Lake Ruataniwha Regattas
Location: Lake Ruataniwha is 2 km south of Twizel.
Getting there: You can fly into Queenstown or Christchurch and drive from there.
Available parking: There is plenty of parking at the lake.
Where the team stays: The team usually stays in houses rented in Twizel, about 10 minutes drive away. A limited number of parent helpers stay at the houses too. Other parents who come to help or watch organise their own accommodation.
Accommodation options for supporters: There are a range of accommodation options in the area.
Racing duration: Start and finish times vary but racing generally runs from around 8 am – 5.30 pm.
Facilities: Food and tea/coffee stalls, stalls selling non-food items, toilets.
Transport arrangements: All transport arrangements for rowers (air and van) are included in the cost of attending the cup. Unfortunately we do not have sufficient funding to cover parent helpers’ travel and accommodation costs, which must be paid for by the individuals concerned.
Where rowers meet: Rowers are transported to Lake Ruataniwha for their races, then taken back to base after racing.
Where parents and supporters meet: We don't take the MAGS Row tent to Maadi Cup regattas because our rowers are taken back to base in between races.
