Surti Samosa Fundraiser - What are we fundraising for?

Every stroke counts, help our Lions stay fast, fierce, and afloat. We’re raising funds for some essential (and expensive) gear:

Cox Box Chargers – $800
The voice of the boat. Without these, our coxswains are just very wet motivational speakers.

6 Life Jackets – $1,800
Safety first, because swimming was not part of the training plan.

5 Oars – $2,500
We need a few more to keep everyone pulling their weight (literally).

New Coxed Four – $40,000
A sleek, four-person boat (plus coxswain) that’s lighter, faster, and guaranteed to turn heads on the water.

How does your purchase support our fundraiser?

Every 10-pack of Surti samosas you buy helps us raise funds.

Between 1 Oct – 30 Nov 2025, Surti donates $12 per pack to our cause.

  • Outside this promo, we still earn $10 per pack.

  • Sales until 02 November

  • Collection at WERC (West End Rowing Club - 26 Saunders Place, Avondale, or via a rower you purchase off) Tue 11 November @6-7pm

Welcome to the 2025/2026 Rowing Season!

We’re excited to introduce our new squad for the year, including 27 novices along with returning rowers. While there have been some significant changes - the first being our awesome newly designed boat park gear that’s on it's way, we are keen to build on the solid foundations built from last season with the support of our coaching staff.

The committee has seen changes, with new members joining, including Mac Collis, Cameron Neilson, Kelly Rattray, Stella Segat.  Thank you to Amie Wallwork who is now leading as Chairperson.

We’re also thrilled to welcome our new coaches: Hana, Olivia, and Arlo, who have joined the squad this season.

Changes are coming as a result of the learnings from last season, one of which we have seen great results with the introduction of a new food committee. This has led to a new approach to our menu at Regattas and Camps and initial feedback has been excellent. Thank you to the food committee for their input and we will welcome other parent support as the season progresses.

To enhance engagement between rowers and supporters we have also decided to relocate boat park tent to join up with the parents tent, lakeside.  Check out changes we are making inside the tents at the first Karapiro Regatta. We look forward to fresh ideas and encourage feedback throughout the season.

Fundraising efforts for this year have already kicked off, and we’re looking forward to your support and contributions through the upcoming events.  There is still time to purchase bumper stickers, and get ready for our Samosa initiative, a perfect time to stock up those freezers with exams and holidays coming up.  As always, we encourage selling outside of the rowing community to maximise our potential for fundraising.  With thanks to the generosity of our past fundraising initiatives, we’ve been able to place an order for new oars and cox boxes and are especially excited about ordering a new coxed four for the boys, which we hope to receive before the Christmas regatta from SL Racing.

The naming of this new boat is still up for discussion, and the topic has sparked much debate as we aim to honour current and past supporters of MAGSROW. Stay tuned for details on the naming ceremony and celebrations.

In addition, we’re reaching out to reconnect with past rowers and supporters, sharing the stories and achievements built from their hard work. If you know of anyone who might be interested in reconnecting, please encourage them to visit our website and join up on the new ALUMNI tab, or get them to subscribe to our newsletter (see below).  Our website has just undergone a revamp with our new 2025 Sponsors, and we will continue to add photos of our current rowers at their regattas throughout the season, so make sure you keep checking in to our website regularly.

See you soon at the up and coming Regattas, make sure you bring a good voice to cheer on the squad!
